How We Mentor

True to its purpose of promoting cultural exchange, ConCuerda has organized various musical residencies. These residencies bring together renowned Canadian artists and young musicians from Cartagena. The following artists have participated in ConCuerda's musical residencies in Cartagena: a string quartet, consisting of the Principal Cellist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Brian Manker, violinists Katherine G. Manker and Johannes Jansonius, and violist Ronelle Schaufele; the Associate Concertmaster of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra; Karl Stobbe; the renowned conductor Maestro Julian Andreas Kuerti; the violinist and soloist Morry Kernerman; and the renowned Quatuor Despax String Quartet comprising cellist Valérie Despax, violinists Cendrine and Jean Despax, and violist Maxime Despax.

During the music residencies, these artists have been involved in various musical activities with children and young musicians from Cartagena. These activities have included master classes, supervised rehearsals, and performances. The participating groups and orchestras from Cartagena include the Orchestra and Children's Choir of the Jesús Maestro Sueños y Oportunidades School, the Canta Collective and the Nuestra Orquesta Orchestra, the Tito Sangiorgi Chamber Orchestra, young musicians from the Fundación Música por Colombia, and singer Delly Delanois, among others.
